Required Results for Successful Funding

Expected Outcomes

Project results are expected to contribute to all of the following:
• Improved integration of public authorities, social actors, and arts/cultural and creative sectors (including local crafters and manufacturers) into the design and development of street furniture
• Better evidence on street furniture uses and the role of co-creation to inform procurement processes
• Enhanced quality of user experience, safety and security in public spaces
• Increased sustainability and resilience to climate change impacts of street furniture
• Greater inclusiveness in neighbourhoods through designs that meet diverse population needs
Funded areas

Scope Requirements

Proposals must:
• Address infrastructural decay, unequal access to amenities (seating, disability ramps/lifts) and safety challenges in older or socio-economically disadvantaged neighbourhoods
• Develop and demonstrate innovative street furniture sets that: – Ensure year-round functionality, resilience to vandalism, weather and climate change impacts – Reflect local aesthetic, cultural and historical integrity – Require low maintenance and consider local materials and crafts – Improve environmental performance via nature-based solutions and sustainable, secondary (bio-based), recycled or upcycled materials – Incorporate digital dimensions (e.g. sensors, connectivity) – Offer modular/adaptive designs meeting the needs of diverse user groups across age, gender, mobility and cultural backgrounds
• Apply participatory, co-design methods involving all relevant stakeholders
• Produce actionable procurement recommendations based on research insights
• Mobilise financial support to third parties (max EUR 100 000 each) for prototyping and demonstration
• Follow New European Bauhaus values and principles in design and implementation
• Allocate at least 0.2% of the total project budget to share results with the NEB hub

Special Conditions


• Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) may be provided only as grants, with a maximum of EUR 100 000 per third party
• Projects must dedicate at least 0.2% of their total budget to sharing intermediate and final results with the Coordination and Support Action ‘New European Bauhaus hub for results and impact’ (HORIZON-MISS-2024-NEB-01-03)
• Effective integration of social sciences and humanities (SSH) disciplines is mandatory; SSH experts must be actively involved
• Proposals must follow a participatory, transdisciplinary approach bringing together public authorities, neighbourhood actors, civil society, cultural and creative sectors and relevant technical disciplines
• Projects must comply with Horizon Europe General Annexes (eligibility, admissibility, evaluation, financial and operational capacity) and use the HORIZON Action Grant Budget-Based MGA
• Single-stage submission by 12 November 2025, 17:00 Brussels time
