Expected Outcomes
• Grid operators equipped with enhanced tools for forecasting renewable generation and energy demand
• Deployment of innovative energy management systems and smart‐grid technologies enabling efficient integration of RES at various voltage levels
• Transmission and distribution operators with increased capacity to exploit system flexibility and access demand‐response and energy‐storage services
• Establishment of structured cooperation mechanisms between system operators, energy suppliers and service providers responsive to grid conditions
• Enhanced inter‐operator collaboration to mitigate risks associated with high shares of fluctuating renewable generation
Scope Requirements
• Address network constraints and boost grid flexibility through advanced operation and control tools
• Ensure effective coordination between transmission system operators (TSOs) and distribution system operators (DSOs) across multiple voltage levels to maintain stability
• Conduct demonstration, test and validation in at least two pilots located in different EU Member States or Associated Countries
• Propose best practices and recommendations for RES uptake to achieve at least 42.5% renewables (aspiring to 45%) by 2030
• Include a minimum of 2 TSOs and 4 DSOs in project consortium (across the pilots)
• Collaborate with at least 3 renewable energy suppliers (minimum 2 non‐dispatchable; covering both wind and solar) and at least 2 grid energy service providers (e.g., aggregators, storage providers)
• Leverage digitalisation solutions for energy system monitoring, forecasting and control
Special Conditions
• Proposals must comply with Horizon Europe General Annexes (admissibility, eligibility, capacity, evaluation and financial rules) and use the specific application and evaluation forms provided in the Funding & Tenders Portal
• Maximum page limits and layouts as per Annex A/E of the Work Programme General Annexes and Part B of the application form
• Eligible participants from EU Member States, Associated Countries, and certain third countries following specific provisions
• Mandatory contribution to and active participation in the BRIDGE initiative
• Demonstration pilots must be in at least two different eligible countries
• Consortium composition minima: 2 TSOs, 4 DSOs, 3 RES suppliers (2 non‐dispatchable), 2 energy service providers
