Cybersecure and resilient road e-mobility ecosystem (2ZERO Partnership)

Project results are expected to deliver: a holistic cyber-resilient architecture integrating hardware secure modules and software primitives (including post-quantum cryptography); real-life implementation and demonstration of an open-source e-mobility security framework and use cases for testing, verification and certification; guidelines for rapid mitigation plans (advanced cryptographic solutions, over-the-air software corrections); a data breach response plan framework outlining roles and responsibilities; and hardened EVSE against natural hazards, vandalism and criminal cyber-physical tampering.

Proposals must: pursue a system-level approach interconnecting all e-mobility actors (EV manufacturers, EVSE operators, Charging Point Operators, EMSPs, EV aggregators, facility managers, flexibility providers, DSOs) via front-end/back-end ICT systems; ensure public charging infrastructures are open and interoperable (all user types, vehicle models, software systems, charging protocols, apps and networks); achieve full compliance with the Cyber-Resilience Act by November 2027; secure every interaction in view of the transition to Software-Defined Vehicles and continuous Over-The-Air software updates; integrate state-of-the-art cryptographic primitives (including post-quantum) in hardware secure modules and software; conduct threat and risk assessments across all actors and interfaces; implement testing and certification frameworks; extend PKI with quantum-resilient solutions; develop and validate digital twins; and align with ENISA/JRC cybersecurity analysis for connected vehicles. Synergies with related Horizon Europe and JU projects are encouraged.
