What is the Development Voucher Call?
Expected Outcomes
• Strengthened recognition and position within the Dutch and/or Caribbean visual arts sectors, evidenced by exhibitions, commissions, sales, publications or awards.
• Demonstrable career progression through participation in high-level programmes, collaborations or the acquisition of specialist equipment that directly contributes to artistic growth.
• Enhanced capacity to self-direct professional projects and to secure further support or opportunities in the visual arts domain.
Scope Requirements
• Must practice in the Netherlands and/or the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.
• Applications accepted at any time subject to available budget, but only between 4 months and 5 weeks before the plan’s commencement date.
• Applicants need a user account on the submission portal.
• Each artist may receive only one Development Voucher per 12-month period.
• Applicants must not be enrolled full-time in Bachelor’s, Master’s, postgraduate or PhD programmes (part-time programmes under 20 hours/week are allowed).
• The requested sum and budget must be substantiated with quotations or financial proof; amounts stated excluding VAT unless applicant is VAT-exempt.
Special Conditions
• Excluded equipment: smartphones, tablets, desktop computers, laptops and cameras.
• Ineligible if you received an Artist Start grant less than 1 year ago or an Artist Basic grant less than 4 years ago.
• No retroactive grants.
• Applications for plans overlapping other Mondriaan Fund support covering the same expenses will not be accepted.
• If previous applications to Artist Start, Artist Project or Publication in the past 4 years received a positive advisory and no subsequent rejection, Fund Office staff perform a simplified assessment; otherwise, the Development Voucher advisory committee assesses the application.
• Due to budgetary constraints, positive advisory does not guarantee funding; applications with positive advisories are prioritized by submission date.
