What is the EIC pre-accelerator - Widening Call?

Grant Description
This call supports early-stage deep-technology startups in Horizon Europe widening countries to mature and validate their innovations from technology readiness level four to five or six. It funds activities that increase investor and market readiness, including market research, business model development, intellectual property protection, prototyping and technology demonstration. Required Results for Successful Funding

Expected Outcomes

Increased innovation potential and overall competitiveness of deep-tech startups in widening countries; strengthened innovation dimension of widening component; enhanced business, investor and technology readiness of participating startups, enabling them to successfully apply for EIC Accelerator funding, secure private investments, or attract national/regional funding (e.g. via Seal of Excellence).
Funded areas

Scope Requirements

Proposals must target early-stage deep-tech startups with: 1) innovation based on cutting-edge scientific advances (physical, biological or digital) capable of creating or disrupting markets; 2) ambition and commitment to scale up; 3) technology validated in the lab (minimum TRL 4); 4) possession of adequate intellectual property rights; 5) a clear go-to-market pathway with specific, verifiable milestones and KPIs; 6) status as a single legal entity (mono-beneficiary) SME established in an EU or associated widening country; 7) financial and operational capacity to cover 30% co-funding; and 8) willingness to engage with EIC Business Acceleration Services.
Additional Conditions for Applicants

Special Conditions

70% of eligible costs reimbursed via lump sum; 30% co-funding required from beneficiary resources; grant amount between EUR 300,000 and EUR 500,000 for up to 2 years; mono-beneficiary SME only; Part B of proposal max 22 A4 pages; single-stage submission by 18 November 2025, 17:00 Brussels time; compliance with Horizon Europe lump sum MGA; Seal of Excellence awarded to proposals meeting thresholds but unfunded due to budget limits; access to EIC Business Acceleration Services and Accelerator Fast Track for successful and Seal of Excellence awardees.
