What is the Environment governance Call?
Expected Outcomes
• Enhanced capacity of public administrations to make informed environmental governance decisions.
• Increased uptake of voluntary environmental management schemes by public and private actors.
• Strengthened environmental compliance monitoring and streamlined access to justice for citizens and NGOs.
• Demonstrable behavioural changes and raised public awareness leading to adoption of sustainable practices.
• Tangible contributions to a circular economy, energy efficiency, climate resilience and a toxic-free environment.
• Protection, restoration and improvement of environmental quality in line with the European Green Deal objectives.
Scope Requirements
• Projects must focus exclusively on environmental governance.
• Applicants must select a maximum of two sub-topics from the three listed (decision-making support; compliance assurance and access to justice; behavioural change and awareness-raising).
• Projects under LIFE-2025-SAP-ENV-ENVIRONMENT or LIFE-2025-SAP-NAT-GOV are not eligible.
• Applicants must comply with admissibility (Section 5), eligibility and other conditions (Section 6), financial/operational capacity and exclusion criteria (Section 7) of the Call document.
• Proposals must adhere to page limits and layout rules in Part B of the Application Form.
• Projects must be implemented by entities from eligible countries as defined in Section 6.
• Financial planning must follow the Detailed Budget Table template.
Special Conditions
• Proposals exceeding two sub-topics will be deemed non-compliant.
• Mandatory annexes: Detailed budget table; Participant information form.
• Optional annexes: Letters of support; Maps; Site descriptions; Other documentation (e.g. life-cycle analyses, business plans).
• Evaluation and award procedures (submission, scoring, thresholds) follow Sections 8 and 9 of the Call document and the Online Manual.
• Indicative evaluation and grant agreement timeline per Section 4.
• Grants are governed by LIFE General MGA v1.0, LIFE Regulation 2021/783 and EU Financial Regulation 2024/2509.
