ERA Fellowships

For supported ERA Fellows:

• Significant increase in research and transferable skills and competences, improving employability and career prospects inside and outside academia

• New mind-sets and R&I approaches gained through international, inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary experience

• Enhanced networking and communication capacities with scientific peers and the general public, broadening research and innovation impact

For participating host organizations in Widening Countries:

• Alignment of researcher working conditions with the European Charter for Researchers principles

• Enhanced quality and sustainability of research training and supervision

• Increased global attractiveness, visibility and reputation

• Strengthened R&I capacity and output, improved knowledge transfer

• Regular integration of research results into teaching and education

For Widening Countries as a whole:

• Increased attractiveness for researchers through competitive grants and dissemination of best working practices

• Higher numbers of postdoctoral researchers attracted and retained in Widening Countries

• Host organization must be a legal entity in an eligible Widening Country (EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country classified as “widening”)

• Applications submitted jointly by the researcher and host organization via the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2025 call (Topic HORIZON-MSCA-2025-PF-01-01)

• Fellowships must take place within a Widening Country; open to researchers of any nationality moving to the EU or within the EU to a Widening Country

• Proposals must meet all admissibility, eligibility and threshold conditions of the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2025 call (including page limits, partner eligibility, legal and financial capacity)

• Evaluation, scoring, thresholds and ranking follow MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2025 procedures; proposals retain original scores and Evaluation Summary Report
