Enhanced scientific and technological competitiveness of European research infrastructures; enhanced research infrastructure capacities to address research challenges and EU policy priorities; increased technological level of European industries through co-development of advanced technologies and creation of new markets; increased availability within Europe of research infrastructure component manufacturing capabilities currently lacking; long-term integration of research infrastructures into local, regional and global research and innovation ecosystems; strengthened foundations for the development of innovative companies in Europe.

Scope Requirements

Projects must implement a community or cross-community technology roadmap already developed by multiple research infrastructure and technology communities (e.g. accelerator, light source, astronomy); technological solutions must address the needs of several and, where relevant, different types of research infrastructures; involve from the earliest possible stage co-creation with industrial partners (including SMEs) or other technological partners, evidenced by engagement letters or endorsements, and describe partner identification processes; address resource efficiency (raw materials, energy) and environmental (including climate-related) impacts; prototype methodologies, protocols and instrumentation needed for upgrades, next-generation construction or new applications; may provide grants to third parties with justified amounts above EUR 60 000; may include PCP subcontracting phases for competitive development; where relevant, build on and avoid overlap with past/ongoing Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe topics INFRAINNOV-03-2020, INFRAINNOV-04-2020, HORIZON-INFRA-2022-TECH-01-01 and HORIZON-INFRA-2024-TECH-01-01.
Additional Conditions for Applicants

Special Conditions

Proposals must include at least two different research infrastructures as beneficiaries, each being an ESFRI Landmark, a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) or an international European research organisation (two nodes of the same infrastructure do not count separately); compliance with admissibility, eligibility (Annex B), financial and operational capacity and exclusion (Annex C), and evaluation and award criteria (Annex D) of the Horizon Europe General Annexes; support to third parties only in grant form, with a possible per-third-party limit above EUR 60 000 if justified; PCP subcontracting allowed under specific conditions; avoid overlap with specified past and ongoing calls; proposals will be subject to standard Horizon Europe MGA provisions, financial rules and documentation requirements.
