Expected Outcomes
• Creation of Societal Earning Capacity by making synthesized knowledge accessible and applicable in new regional or sectoral contexts
• Production of integrated knowledge outputs (reports, toolkits, platforms) that facilitate broader uptake and further research
• Strengthened networks and collaboration among past and current KIC mission projects, fostering sustained knowledge flows
• Enhanced societal and economic impact via stakeholder engagement, policy briefs, demonstration pilots or training activities
• Improved understanding of effective mechanisms for mission-driven innovation systems, informing future projects and policy development
Scope Requirements
• Consortium composition: main applicant plus one or more co-applicants and at least one partnering organisation; co-applicants permitted; joint applications by multiple project leads allowed
• Budget: each current project may request either €111,111 once or two top-ups of €55,555 each; for joint applications the per-project cap (€111,111 or €55,555) is multiplied by the number of participating projects
• Duration: projects may run for a maximum of one year
• Distinctness: funded activities must be newly initiated and not overlap with tasks or budgets already allocated in the original KIC projects
• Submission: continuous call via the ISAAC system until 21 January 2027 at 14:00 CET, with assessment cut-off dates on 23 January 2025, 22 January 2026 and 21 January 2027 (each before 14:00 CET)
• Data management: prepare a data management plan after grant award and before project start
Special Conditions
• Attendance at NWO-facilitated workshops during the Societal Earning Capacity programme days is expected to enable consortium building and knowledge exchange
• Applications must be submitted using the prescribed ISAAC forms (application form, budget form, appointment and supervision statement, co-funding declaration, statements and signature form)
• Activities already budgeted or planned under existing KIC grants are ineligible for top-up funding
• Assessment uses three equally weighted criteria: Consortium & Collaboration (33%), Impact (33%), Plan (33%)
• Decisions on each collection date occur in March/April following the respective submission deadlines
