- Generation of actionable insights, prototypes or proof-of-concepts in KIA key technology areas that can serve as seeds for larger follow-up research or innovation projects.
• Strengthened collaborative networks among universities, research institutes, industry partners and social stakeholders.
• Demonstrable progress on national KIA roadmaps through applied research outputs.
• Enhanced capacity for knowledge utilisation and technology transfer within the Dutch high-tech ecosystem.
• Increased involvement and career development of starting researchers in interdisciplinary, practice-oriented projects.

- Project topics must align with one or more KIA key technologies and their associated roadmaps.
• Applicants must form a consortium/network involving at least one knowledge institution and relevant partners (industry, social partners).
• Interdisciplinary collaboration is required; projects may draw on any eligible domains (e.g., life sciences, engineering, computer science, environmental science, social sciences, etc.).
• Projects must be practice-oriented and applied in nature (no purely fundamental research).
• Starting researchers are encouraged to take leading roles, with support from more experienced researchers.
• Each proposal may request up to €40,000 in funding; co-financing or in-kind contributions from partners are permitted but not mandatory.
• Applications must be submitted via the Regieorgaan SIA portal by the fixed deadline (30 September 2025, 14:00 hrs).
