Required Results for Successful Funding
Expected Outcomes
Proposals are expected to deliver results that contribute to all of the following:
• Increased participation of actors and stakeholders in EU road transport activities, fostering coherent and inclusive European alignment in targeted areas.
• A comprehensive mapping of state-of-the-art, requirements, developments, future needs and barriers, accompanied by actionable proposals to support the deployment of EU R&I results (including skills and standards).
• A defined and actionable strategy for a future research infrastructure ecosystem in the Road Transport sector.
• Enhanced international cooperation on road transport with national and international organisations, aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals and boosting EU industry competitiveness, notably with the US and Global South.
• Widespread dissemination of road transport research contributions (especially EU-funded projects) in support of the European Green Deal, new European industrial policy, EU digital strategy and Vision Zero for road safety.
• Knowledge sharing and promotion of R&I activities through dedicated events, supporting the identification of future requirements, potential developments, white spots and pre-competitive activities.

Funded areas
Scope Requirements
Proposals must address all of the following:
1. Widen and strengthen the European road transport R&I ecosystem by engaging a broader, more innovative and representative set of stakeholders currently under-represented in existing platforms (both geographically and by thematic expertise).
2. Identify state-of-the-art, future and innovative requirements, technological developments, white spots and pre-competitive activities across the road transport value chain.
3. Map in-depth barriers to deployment of EU R&I results at European and international levels, co-develop options to overcome them, and produce innovation plans and competitiveness analyses focused on:
• Urban zero-emission mobility
• Improved air quality
• Future road safety
• Zero-emission long-haul logistics
• Digitalisation of road transport (AI, big data, software defined vehicles)
4. Assess existing road transport research infrastructures in Europe and formulate a strategy for a coherent RI ecosystem aligned with EU priorities, strategic autonomy and excellence capacity.
5. Organise at least four targeted workshops or events to disseminate technology need analyses, trends and project outcomes.
6. Provide direct support to annual Road Transport Research Conferences (financial, organisational, communication, dissemination).
7. Propose actions to develop and scale education, training, skilling/reskilling and standardisation initiatives at EU level.
8. In international cooperation:
a. Analyse and evaluate EU–US R&I alignment following previous transport symposia to foster collaboration under US DOE and DOT.
b. Analyze EU-funded electromobility projects in emerging economies and deliver online dissemination/replication workshops.
c. Enable exchanges with Global Gateway, UN GEF and other international programmes.
