Grant Description
The aim of the call is to strengthen connections between universities of applied sciences and other knowledge institutions to advance research and collaboration in the field of circular agriculture
Required Results for Successful Funding

Expected Outcomes

• Establishment of durable partnerships between universities of applied sciences and knowledge institutions in circular agriculture.

• Generation of applied research results and practical innovations that enhance resource efficiency and sustainability in agricultural systems.

• Improved transfer of knowledge and technology to farmers, companies, and policy-makers.

• Strengthened research and teaching capacity within lectoraats (research groups) in circular agriculture.

• Dissemination of project findings through publications, open‐access data sets, workshops, and stakeholder networks, contributing to the wider adoption of circular practices in agriculture.
Funded areas

Scope Requirements

• Projects must focus on circular agriculture (kringlooplandbouw) and address one or more phases of the circular chain (e.g. nutrient recycling, waste valorization, system integration).

• Leading applicant must be a university of applied sciences in the Netherlands.

• Each project must include at least one other knowledge institution (university, research institute, or expert organisation).

• Proposals must fall under the PVG Lectoren kringlooplandbouw research programme and conform to Regieorgaan SIA guidelines.

• Target group: Applied Sciences Research teams.

• Budget request per project must not exceed €400,000 (total call budget).

• Multi-disciplinary approaches are encouraged; relevant disciplines include but are not limited to earth sciences, biology, economics, environmental science, engineering, technology, computer science, and social sciences.

Special Conditions

• Finance type: Applied Science (Applied Sciences Research).

• Applications must be submitted via the Regieorgaan SIA website by 23 September 2025, 14:00 hrs CET; late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.

• Projects must start and conclude within the timeline and reporting requirements set by the PVG Lectoren kringlooplandbouw programme.

• Eligible costs must comply with SIA’s funding regulations (personnel, equipment, travel, overheads up to allowed ceiling).

• Co-funding or in-kind contributions from partners are allowed but not mandatory.

• Progress and financial reports to be submitted at intervals specified by SIA.
