What is the M-ERA.NET Call 2025/26 - Materials Science and Engineering for innovation in Europe Call?
Expected Outcomes
• Advance materials research and innovation in line with the European Green Deal and UN SDGs
• Contribute to the EU circular economy and sustainable development objectives (new circular economy action plan)
• Deliver new or improved materials, coatings, composites and interfaces that enhance energy efficiency, resource use and environmental performance
• Foster key enabling technologies (KET) for the Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan
• Promote knowledge transfer between academia and industry and strengthen the transnational research community
• Generate demonstrators or pilot applications at TRL levels specified per topic
• Support European competitiveness in materials and battery technologies through collaborative open innovation projects
Scope Requirements
• Projects must address one of the three ANR-eligible topics:
• Sustainable materials for energy applications
• Functional materials
• Next generation materials for electronics
• Projects must target Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) as specified per topic in the Call Text (“Guide for Proposers”)
• Proposals (both pre- and full) must be written in English and follow the format and templates provided on the M-ERA.NET submission platform
• Only pre-proposals positively evaluated in step 1 may be invited to submit a full proposal in step 2
• Full proposals with ANR-participating partners must also be submitted via the ANR national platform, in accordance with the “Appendix for Partners requesting funding from ANR”
Special Conditions
• ANR applicants must consult and comply with the ANR Appendix document; full-proposal submission details will be communicated individually
• Submission deadlines: pre-proposal by 13 May 2025, 12:00 CEST; full proposal by 19 November 2025, 12:00 CET
