Grant Description
This scheme funds minority co-productions of short animation and investigative or experimental films, aiming to promote exceptional artistic quality and substantial Dutch input in international co-productions.
Required Results for Successful Funding

Expected Outcomes

• Support high-quality, internationally co-produced animated shorts and experimental/investigative audiovisual works.

• Strengthen the role and expertise of Dutch minority co-producers in international co-productions.

• Ensure substantial Dutch creative and technical contribution.

• Foster distribution and audience engagement in the Netherlands.

• Encourage sustainable financing models and revenue sharing for Dutch producers.
Funded areas

Scope Requirements

• Applicant: legal production company (not one-man business or general partnership) established in the Netherlands, EU, EEA or Switzerland for ≥2 years, continuously producing and exploiting audiovisual works.

• Representation by a Dutch minority co-producer who has served as majority producer on at least one free animated short (for animation track) or one free investigative or experimental film (for research & experiment track) in the Netherlands.

• Film must demonstrate exceptional artistic quality in international co-production terms and substantial Dutch creative/technical input.

• Financing: 50% of main producer’s country funding confirmed; Dutch funds and market participants’ contribution ≥10% of total production budget.

• Signed declaration detailing division of tasks/responsibilities and co-production definition between foreign majority and Dutch minority co-producers.

• Applications submitted by deadline day before 17:00 CET on specified dates.
Additional Conditions for Applicants

Special Conditions

• Applicant must preferably hold exclusive Benelux (or at least Dutch) filming and exploitation rights.

• Film must be released in the Netherlands theatrically or non-theatrically; short animation and investigative/experimental films may submit a detailed distribution plan instead.

• All third-party financing must be fully and unconditionally secured within 12 months of grant award decision.

• Grantee shares pro rata in worldwide revenues.

• Grant funds must be spent entirely in the Netherlands (e.g., on Dutch cast and crew).
