What is the Nature Governance and Information Call?

Grant Description
This call supports Standard Action Projects under the LIFE Nature and Biodiversity sub-programme focused exclusively on improving governance and information at all levels. It addresses gaps in policy implementation, public awareness, and access to justice in nature and biodiversity matters. Funded projects should deliver ambitious, credible conservation impacts with long-term sustainability and replication.

Scope Requirements

• Project type: Standard Action Projects targeting governance and information improvements at all levels (local, national, EU) in line with sections 1 and 2 of the Call document.
• Thematic focus: only governance and information interventions; projects under LIFE-2025-SAP-NAT-NATURE (other Nature & Biodiversity SAPs) are excluded.
• Objectives addressed: awareness raising, policy/legislation compliance support, access to justice for nature/biodiversity.
• Alignment: must contribute to LIFE Nature & Biodiversity sub-programme objectives by improving governance, information flow, stakeholder engagement, monitoring, reporting and law enforcement capacities.

Admissibility and eligibility conditions as per the Call document: 1. Admissibility: proposal page limits and layout (section 5 of Call document; Part B of application form in Submission System). 2. Eligible countries and other eligibility criteria (section 6 of Call document). 3. Financial and operational capacity and exclusion (section 7). 4. Evaluation and award: submission and evaluation procedures (section 8 and Online Manual); award criteria, scoring and thresholds (section 9); indicative evaluation and grant agreement timeline (section 4). 5. Legal and financial set-up: grant rules and MGA conditions (section 10; Model Grant Agreement LIFE MGA). Additional documents: Detailed budget table, participant information, maps, site and species/habitat descriptions, FAQs, EU Financial Regulation 2024/2509, LIFE Regulation 2021/783, annotated MGA, Funding & Tenders Portal Online Manual, Terms and Conditions. Submission must use the LIFE Project Grants [LIFE-PJG] budget-based model; single-stage procedure; opening date 24 April 2025, deadline 23 September 2025 at 17:00 Brussels time.
