What is the Next generation aircraft autonomy technologies for cockpit / pilot assistance applications Call?

Grant Description
Support research and innovation actions to develop new cockpit autonomy and pilot assistance technologies for next generation civil aircraft up to technology readiness level four. Projects must align with Clean Aviation roadmaps and H2020 Large Aircraft Disruptive Cockpit Demonstrator lessons, focusing on human-machine interfaces, digitalisation, autonomy, safety, efficiency and cyber-resilience under single-pilot control. Simulation tools, artificial intelligence, human factors and cost-benefit...
Required Results for Successful Funding

Expected Outcomes

Project results should contribute to the European civil aircraft cockpit technology roadmaps on crew assistance, automation and autonomy for next-generation pilot assistance applications. Proposals must address at least two of the following outcomes: 1) increasing cockpit safety through new crew assistance systems or functionalities; 2) advancing cockpit digitalisation and autonomy by developing enhanced human-system relations and novel human-machine interface concepts; 3) achieving technological breakthroughs that equip future cockpits for forthcoming aviation challenges; 4) improving cockpit performance efficiency via reductions in size, weight and power consumption (SWaP), lowered total lifecycle costs, higher integration levels, reduced production times and first-time-right delivery.
Funded areas

Scope Requirements

Projects must: develop new cockpit/autonomy technology bricks aligned with the Clean Aviation SRIA and H2020-CS2 demonstrator lessons; target future aircraft concepts operated by a single pilot without an on-board co-pilot on cyber-resilient platforms; address at least two areas among increased safety (new assistance systems and functionalities), digitalisation/autonomy (enhanced human-system relations and new HMI concepts), or cockpit performance efficiency (reduced size, weight and power, lower lifecycle costs, higher integration and first-time-right delivery); employ simulation tools, AI models, human factors methodologies and cost-benefit analysis; liaise with EASA on safety, new testing and certification processes; and focus on technology maturity up to TRL 4 without full system integration or demonstration.
