Onderzoek Effectief Leesonderwijs

Funded projects are expected to deliver:
• Empirically grounded insights into effective reading instruction practices.
• Practical instructional materials, tools or protocols that teachers in primary and/or secondary (special) education can immediately implement to improve reading outcomes.
• Research findings that directly address the specific knowledge gaps identified in the Onderzoeksagenda voor het leesonderwijs.
• A completed Research Data Management Plan ensuring responsible handling and sharing of research data.
• Enhanced collaboration among higher-education institutions, research organisations and schools to foster sustained improvement in reading education.

• Applicant profile: Professors, university/hogeschool (head) lecturers, researcher-teachers, lecturers, practors, other researchers, education professionals or teachers employed at: – Dutch universities or hogescholen as defined in the WHW and relevant policy rules; – independent (educational) research organisations in the Netherlands; – ROCs or vocational colleges providing publicly funded education (Art. 1.3.1/1.3.2 WEB); – publicly funded primary and/or secondary schools in the Netherlands.
• Projects must: – address one or more specific questions from the Onderzoeksagenda voor het leesonderwijs; – produce concrete insights or applications for direct classroom use; – have a maximum duration of 12 months; – request no more than € 50 000 (all costs); – fit within the total Call budget of € 250 000 (expected 3–5 awards).
• Submission deadlines: LOI 17 June 2025 (14:00 CEST); full proposal 7 October 2025 (14:00 CEST).
• Mandatory use of ISAAC for submission; create account at least one working day prior.
• Required attachments: budget, consortium-partner form, letters of commitment, co-financing statements, appointment and project supervision declarations.
