Expected Outcomes
• Enhanced visibility, readership, and citation impact through Open Access distribution

Scope Requirements
• Applicants must be project leaders or co-applicants from awarded NWO research projects
• Must hold a tenured or tenure-track position at one of the following in the Netherlands:
• Universities and universities of applied sciences
• University medical centres (academic hospitals)
• Institutes affiliated to KNAW or NWO
• Netherlands Cancer Institute
• Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics
• Naturalis Biodiversity Center
• ARCNL
• Princess Máxima Center
• Projects must have ended no more than five years before application
Publication Criteria:
• Book must be a peer-reviewed academic monograph, edited collection, or critical edition resulting from the NWO-funded research
• Manuscript fully and unconditionally accepted by an academic publisher
• Published under a Creative Commons license
• Provided with a DOI
• Deposited and made openly accessible in the OAPEN library
Funding Limits:
• Maximum €10,000 per book (including Dutch VAT, if applicable)
• Total annual budget for the call is €300,000
Application Timing:
• Continuous, no fixed deadlines; applications accepted while budget remains
Special Conditions
• Researchers on zero-hour contracts or fixed-term appointments (except tenure-track)
• Book chapters, conference proceedings, dissertations, textbooks, and translations
• Article Processing Charges for journals (these belong in the original research grant)
Mandatory Documentation:
• Completed ISAAC application form, co-signed by the publisher
• Signed publishing contract specifying the BPC amount
• Table of contents and summary of the book
• All materials combined into a single PDF upload in ISAAC
Employment Continuity Guarantee:
• If the applicant’s tenure/tenure-track ends before project completion, a statement from the employer guaranteeing adequate supervision for the project’s duration is required
Assessment Process:
• Applications assessed individually (not competitive) by NWO Office against the stated criteria
• Funding granted on a first-come, first-served basis until budget depletion
