Required Results for Successful Funding

Expected Outcomes

Project results are expected to contribute to all of the following outcomes:
• Development of innovative approaches, methods and techniques for safe, sustainable re-assembly of construction products that elevate the aesthetic and cultural value of the built environment in line with the New European Bauhaus.
• Measurable increase in the volume and frequency of re-assembly of reclaimed construction products at neighbourhood, local and regional scales.
• Generation of robust scientific evidence on social, cultural, economic and environmental impacts, including:

• Reduced resource consumption and procurement costs.

• Lower waste and litter generation, including microplastic pollution.

• Enhanced carbon storage potential (e.g. via CRCF certification tools).
• Identification and validation of new business opportunities, models, value chains and revenue streams supporting the beautiful re-assembly of reclaimed materials.
• Creation of participatory, transdisciplinary frameworks and partnerships that drive market uptake and scalability of circular re-assembly solutions.
• Contribution to policy and standard-setting through evidence and best practices that inform aesthetic and cultural standards in the built environment.
Funded areas

Scope Requirements

Proposals must address all of the following:
• Focus on the re-assembly stage of reclaimed construction products (including secondary elements such as insulation, cladding, decorative features).
• Align with New European Bauhaus values of sustainability, inclusion and beauty, enhancing well-being and cultural value of the built environment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of historical uses and characteristics, and ensure full traceability of product condition and displacement.
• Employ digital tools (e.g. Digital Product Passports) and reverse supply chain architectures to optimise management, movement and reuse of safe reclaimed materials.
• Apply the circular economy’s cascading principle for bio-based materials and the 10 R hierarchy for non-bio-based materials.
• Prioritise local reverse construction supply chains to maximise economic value, reduce energy use, procurement costs, waste and environmental footprint.
• Explore at least one innovative re-assembly approach, method or technique that increases embedded economic and environmental value and aesthetic standards in buildings or ensembles.
• Consider environmental footprints and availability of reclaimed materials at neighbourhood, local or regional levels.
• Build on existing circular construction product pooling networks, platforms, logistics hubs and informal reuse markets where possible.
• Validate how the solution creates new value, revenue streams and business opportunities, leveraging existing research on related business models.
• Adopt a participatory, transdisciplinary approach integrating diverse actors and disciplines.
• Allocate a minimum of 0.2% of the total budget to share results with the NEB hub (HORIZON-MISS-2024-NEB-01-03).

Special Conditions

- Type of action: Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action (RIA) under Lump Sum Grant (HORIZON-AG-LS).
• Single-stage submission; budget and conditions as per call text.
• Lump sum funding model governed by the EC Decision of 7 July 2021; eligible costs defined in Annex G of the Horizon Europe General Annexes.
• Proposals must comply with general admissibility, eligibility, exclusion, evaluation and award criteria detailed in Annexes A–F of the Horizon Europe General Annexes and the Programme Guide.
• Use the specific application form and templates available in the Funding & Tenders Portal; follow page limits, layout and submission instructions.
• Definitions of terms (e.g. reclaimed products, reverse supply chains, NEB working principles) refer to the Glossary in the New European Bauhaus part of the 2025 Work Programme.
• At least 0.2% of the total budget must be dedicated to sharing intermediate and final results with the NEB hub (HORIZON-MISS-2024-NEB-01-03).
• Projects must adhere to the Annotated Model Grant Agreement and Funding & Tenders Portal Terms and Conditions.
• Participants from eligible countries as listed in Annex B; non-EU/associated participations subject to specific provisions in the Programme Guide.
• Legal and financial capacity checks, LEAR appointment and validation according to EU Grants AGA rules.
• Coordination with National Contact Points, IT Helpdesk, IPR Helpdesk and relevant support services as needed.
