Scope Requirements
• Engage at least one energy-intensive industrial sector and net-zero technology manufacturers (and, where relevant, engineering/construction firms) in co-development of integration solutions;
• Define and assess “standard” process(es) and operational energy needs through direct exchange with technology suppliers;
• Optimize and adapt manufacturer-proposed technologies to sector-specific requirements;
• Demonstrate process modifications enabling efficient, flexible integration into existing plants;
• Prove effectiveness and replicability, shifting from bespoke projects to streamlined, standardised yet flexible solutions;
• Balance standardisation with flexibility to deliver tailored, competitive solutions;
• Incorporate skill-development plans for workforce readiness;
• Ensure full value-chain involvement and secure, trusted data interoperability;
• Include a robust techno-economic analysis confirming economic viability;
• Recommend inclusion of a GHG avoidance methodology with baseline and reduction projections;
• Provide an exploitation plan (feasibility study, business plan, financial model) identifying public/private funding sources;
• Outline societal, environmental, workplace and organizational impacts;
• Plan for dissemination, replication and advisory support to stakeholders.
Special Conditions
• Net-zero technologies are defined per Net Zero Industry Act Annex I;
• A GHG avoidance methodology following Innovation Fund guidance is recommended;
• Proposals must include a business case and initial exploitation strategy as per Destination 1 requirements;
• Single-stage submission only; opening 22 May 2025, deadline 23 September 2025 (17:00 Brussels time);
• Legal entities established in China are not eligible to participate in Innovation Actions;
• All general Horizon Europe rules apply (admissibility, eligibility, financial capacity, evaluation, MGA conditions as per General Annexes).
