Expected Outcomes
• Feasibility study reports confirming technical feasibility, commercial viability and customer desirability
• Prototypes or proof-of-concept applications (digital twins or immersive environments) generating real-time data analytics for improved decision-making
• Detailed business cases and roadmaps for follow-on development or commercialization
• Increased market readiness through ESA branding, technical/commercial mentoring and network introductions
Scope Requirements
– Industry & Manufacturing: digital twins for predictive maintenance, remote facility repair, transport network optimization
– Training: immersive, repeatable simulations (e.g., surgical practice) with no resource waste
– Real Estate: virtual property creation, trading and development in the Metaverse
– Travel & Tourism: interactive destination replicas, virtual travel agents and concierge services
– Civil Security & Law Enforcement: immersive simulations using real-time satellite imagery and geospatial intelligence
• Mandatory inclusion of space data/technology value-adds, such as:
– Satellite Earth Observation imagery and meteorological data for virtual environment construction and real-time analytics
– GIS for 3D modeling of physical data
– Satellite Communications for resilient connectivity in remote or bandwidth-intensive scenarios
– Satellite Navigation (GNSS) and geofencing for precise user positioning and contextual interaction
• Concept evaluation criteria: desirability (evidenced by customer engagement), viability (commercial profitability), feasibility (technical maturity)
• Team composition: motivated, cross-disciplinary team with business, technical and financial expertise
• Budget: maximum total cost €100 000, ESA funds 75% up to €75 000
Special Conditions
• Germany and Luxembourg have pre-authorised funding; Austria and the Netherlands are excluded from this call
• Applicants (where required) must obtain a Letter of Authorisation from their National Delegate prior to submission
• Mandatory registration on ESA-STAR and proposal submission via ESA-STAR Tendering by the deadline (14 November 2025)
• Zero-equity funding: ESA takes no ownership in funded activities
