Grant Description
This call aims to fund academic research projects to develop knowledge in prioritized key technologies for next-generation high-tech equipment. It addresses sustainability, digitalisation, healthcare and technology sovereignty within the Dutch high-tech equipment sector. Projects are expected to advance fundamental understanding and innovation and strengthen the knowledge base for future-proof high-tech equipment.

Scope Requirements
• Research subject: Generating new knowledge in the prioritized key technologies defined by the NXTGEN Hightech programme, targeting future-proof high-tech equipment in sustainability, digitisation, healthcare, and technology sovereignty.
• Consortium composition: Minimum two distinct research organizations (at least one university), supplemented by one or more co-funders (industry, social partners) and optionally additional collaboration partners.
• Financial scope: Total available budget of €10,628,274. Projects must demonstrate co-funding commitments via signed declarations.
• Eligibility: Main applicant plus up to multiple co-applicants can submit; consortia may include companies and knowledge institutions new to NXTGEN Hightech.
• Disciplines: Open to proposals in Biology, Computer Science, Life Sciences & Medicine, Physics, Science & Technology, Chemistry, Technology, and Mathematics.
• Submission deadline: 11 September 2025, 14:00 CEST, via the ISAAC system.
• Funding instrument: National Growth Fund (Nationale Groeifonds) – second call under NXTGEN Hightech.
• Consortium composition: Minimum two distinct research organizations (at least one university), supplemented by one or more co-funders (industry, social partners) and optionally additional collaboration partners.
• Financial scope: Total available budget of €10,628,274. Projects must demonstrate co-funding commitments via signed declarations.

• Assessment criteria and weightings: 1) Problem posed & analysis (25%); 2) Expected impact & route to impact (25%); 3) Consortium quality (30%); 4) Research quality (20%).
• Assessment procedure: Remote referee review → written rebuttal by applicants → assessment committee evaluation → NWO-AES board decision (scheduled January 2026).
• Mandatory use of ISAAC: All forms and uploaded attachments must follow the templates provided in the ISAAC system.
• Co-funding requirement: Projects must secure and document additional funding from co-funders; declarations of co-funding are compulsory.
• Research data management: A Data Management Plan must be prepared after grant award and before project start.
• Consortium novelty: Encouraged inclusion of new parties (both companies and knowledge institutions) in the NXTGEN Hightech programme.
