This call supports coordination and support activities to strengthen the Global Research Collaboration for Infectious Disease Preparedness (GloPID-R) by funding a secretariat to enable rapid research response to epidemics and pandemics, enhance collaboration among international research funders, improve preparedness frameworks, and ensure effective communication and coordination.

Expected Outcomes

International research funders supported by a dynamic and efficient secretariat in their coordination efforts for a rapid research response when a pandemic or severe epidemic strikes; International research funders can rely on a tested framework underpinning a rapid and effective research response, ensuring stronger preparedness and response for public health emergencies, including in cross-cutting areas such as data sharing, social science and clinical trial networks; Research funders, policymakers and the research community are well informed of the activities of Glo PID-R members both collectively and individually.

Scope Requirements

Support the continuous evolution and added value of the Global Research Collaboration for Infectious Disease Preparedness (Glo PID-R) by providing administrative and technical secretariat functions; Enable global coordination of infectious disease research funders and collaboration with key actors such as WHO and CEPI; Foster exchanges and synergies among funded researchers; Implement and support the regional hubs strategy to align regional research priorities and engage funders; Strengthen coordination of clinical trial responses; Track research and evidence on diseases with pandemic potential; Coordinate funding for cross-cutting pandemic preparedness research.

Special Conditions

This is a Horizon Europe Coordination and Support Action delivered as a lump sum grant (HORIZON-AG-LS) with an indicative budget of €2 000 000; Coordinators must be legal entities established in an EU Member State or Associated Country; US NIH legal entities may participate and receive funding; If projects use satellite-based earth observation or navigation data, beneficiaries must use Copernicus and/or Galileo/EGNOS services; Entities assessed as high-risk suppliers of mobile network communication equipment are ineligible; Admissibility, eligibility, exclusion, page limits and layout follow Horizon Europe Work Programme General Annexes (Annex A, B, C, E); Evaluation criteria thresholds are 4/4/4 for Excellence, Impact and Implementation, with a total threshold of 12.
