What is the Support to the network of National Cancer Mission Hubs (NCMHs) Call?

Grant Description
Support the continuation and strengthening of a Network of National Cancer Mission Hubs in EU Member States and Associated Countries by coordinating activities, building capacity, engaging stakeholders and citizens, developing methodologies, ensuring sustainability, disseminating results, and collaborating with national and international actors to integrate Cancer Mission actions at national, regional and local levels.

Expected Outcomes


• Continuation and consolidation of the Network of National Cancer Mission Hubs (NCMHs) in all Member States and Associated Countries for the full duration of and beyond the Cancer Mission
• Enhanced integration of Cancer Mission activities at national, regional and local levels through a supported Network and strengthened NCMHs
• Active engagement of stakeholders—including patients and citizens—in policy dialogues on cancer within health and R&I systems
• Direct involvement of citizens and patients in the design and development of engagement activities, leading to actionable recommendations for governments and adaptation of national/regional strategies
• Tangible benefits to regional and national policy-makers and authorities from implemented Cancer Mission actions
• A robust foundation for long-term sustainability of NCMHs and increased leverage of private and philanthropic funding beyond EU programmes
• Improved synergies with other EU Missions and international science-policy platforms to reinforce evidence-informed, mission-oriented innovation
Funded areas

Scope Requirements

Proposals must build on the first phase of NCMHs and ensure:
• Coordination and alignment of Cancer Mission activities with EU initiatives (Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan) and national cancer strategies or control plans at national, regional and local levels
• Strengthening of the Network and individual NCMHs by expanding capacities, outreach and activity types, while ensuring long-term sustainability
• Coverage of all bullet points under “Call Activities Description” (capacity building; joint coordination; methodology development; stakeholder and citizen engagement; sustainability planning; dissemination; reporting; best practice exchange; NCP collaboration; Board and international institution collaboration; ECPDC partnership)
• Integration of civil society, business and legal advisors into policy dialogues, including participants not previously involved
• At least one citizen engagement event per year per country or group of countries
• Annual compilation of results and monitoring data to feed Mission implementation progress at national and regional levels

• Collaboration requirement with HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-06 consortium and alignment with July 2023 EU Missions Assessment Communication
• Compliance with model grant agreement, application and evaluation forms (HE CSA templates) and detailed budget table for lump sums
• Use of specified guidance documents (Horizon Programme Guide, EU Financial Regulation 2024/2509, simplified costs decision, etc.)
