Technologies for critical raw materials and strategic raw materials from end-of-life products (IA)

• Increased supply security and access to secondary critical and strategic raw materials for EU industrial value chains

• Increased recovery rates of critical/strategic raw materials from end-of-life products, including by-product recovery

• Improved competitiveness of secondary raw materials production through enhanced cost-effectiveness

• Enhanced efficiency of separation and recycling technologies with sustainable embedment in terms of energy, resource and water use, waste and emissions (GHG and air pollutants) footprint

• Improved responsible supply of raw materials in line with EU sustainable raw materials principles

• Contribution to implementation of the EU Critical Raw Materials Act

Proposals must: develop high-quality re-use and recycling processes for one or more of the following end-of-life streams: WEEE, waste batteries, end-of-life vehicles, waste wind turbines, waste solar photovoltaics, waste heat pumps, waste electrolysers, machine tools from high-performance alloys; address the full recycling chain (collection to purification); ensure functional recycling only; dedicate a work package/task and resources for clustering and cross-project activities; include standardisation considerations, business case and exploitation strategy; form industrial- and user-driven multidisciplinary consortia; consider analysis of financial opportunities for replication of circular business models; optionally integrate gender dimension where relevant.
