Grant Description
Further development of health technology with a clear strategy for structural, sustainable implementation for people in a lower socioeconomic position to reduce health inequalities by addressing the needs, behaviors and integration of technology into everyday life and healthcare infrastructure.
Required Results for Successful Funding

Expected Outcomes

- New or enhanced health technology products and services specifically designed for people in a lower SEP, demonstrating usability, acceptability and effectiveness in real-world contexts.
• A validated understanding of technological and systemic preconditions required for adoption and sustained use in existing healthcare infrastructures and daily routines.
• A clear, evidence-based strategy for structural, long-term implementation and up-scaling, co-developed with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong interdisciplinary and public-private collaborations with established routes to impact, contributing to measurable reductions in health inequalities.
Funded areas

Scope Requirements

- Consortium composition: one main applicant (eligible research institution) + ≥2 co-applicants (e.g., universities of applied sciences, universities, knowledge institutions) + ≥2 co-funders (industry, healthcare organizations, insurers, civil society) + optional collaborating partners.
• Main applicant must have participated in both collaborative workshops prior to submission.
• Funding request: €2 800 000 to €3 500 000 of NWO funding, covering a maximum of 80% (or 70% in certain cases) and at least 50% of the total project budget; remaining budget must be secured via compulsory co-funding.
• Eligible costs: personnel, equipment, investments, knowledge utilization, project management as per NWO Annex 7 rates.
• Maximum project duration: 6 years.
• Submission deadline: 2 December 2025, 14:00 CET via ISAAC.
Additional Conditions for Applicants

Special Conditions

- Mandatory attendance of the main applicant at both collaborative workshops and the information session.
• Binding co-funding: letters of support must pledge full required co-financing in accordance with NWO Sections 3.1.2 and 3.5.6.
• At submission, only the prescribed annexes are allowed: co-funding declaration, project supervision guarantee (if applicable), research organizations declaration; no other attachments.
• All annexes (except the budget form) must be uploaded as PDF; budget form as Excel.
• A Responsible Research Data Management Plan must be prepared after grant award and before project start.
